MCT’s Youth Education Programs
At Murphys Creek Theatre, we believe the arts should inspire, educate, and empower the next generation. We create opportunities for young people in our community to explore creativity, build confidence, and discover the joy of storytelling on stage and screen.
Our 2025 Programs
Summer on Screen, our three-week program, new in 2025, introduced local youth to the art of filmmaking. Led by Program Director Robbie Allen, students learned acting for the camera, screenwriting, filming techniques on both standard and smartphone platforms, sound and lighting, voice work, and editing.
Working collaboratively, participants wrote and produced an original short film, “Stage Fright,” culminating in a public red-carpet world premiere at MCT. The film was entirely created by the students themselves, from script to screen.
At the premiere, students experienced the thrill of seeing their names in the credits and their work projected on the big screen for the first time. Families, friends, and community members filled the theatre, applauding the finished film and the dedication, teamwork, and artistic growth behind it. The event became a true celebration of youth creativity, marking the debut of a new generation of storytellers in Murphys.

For younger students, our weeklong Make-A-Musical Summer Camp brought imagination to life under the guidance of guest teaching artist Katie Duquette, CSTARS Kids Theatre Director and BHHS Technical Theatre Assistant. Students learned how to tell stories through acting, song, and movement, developing unique characters while exploring drama games, vocal warm-ups, script creation, and stage directions. The week culminated in an original mini-performance onstage for family and friends, a joyful showcase of the creativity and confidence each child discovered throughout the camp.

Looking Ahead
Each youth education program at MCT opens new doors for young artists to explore their creativity, discover their voices, and gain the confidence to share their stories. As we look to the seasons ahead, we’re excited to continue offering fresh ways for kids and teens to learn, create, and shine, both onstage and behind the camera,
✨ Stay tuned for what’s next ✨
