MCT finally takes on Shakespeare’s towering tale of love, lies and loss. A story for all time and a story for our time. Aging Lear is determined to save his country from civil war upon his death, but his efforts throw it into corruption and chaos. A chilling story of the pursuit of power at any cost, and the personal saga of a man slowly stripped away – stripped of grandeur, stripped of strength, stripped of loyalty, stripped of beliefs. Is there something left when you have nothing? Directed by Robbie Allen with a stellar cast led by Don Bilotti as King Lear.

EXIT PURSUED BY A BEAR

Nan has decided to teach her abusive husband Kyle a lesson. With the help of her friend Simon (acting as her emotional–and actual–cheerleader) and a stripper named Sweetheart, she tapes Kyle to a chair and forces him to watch as they reenacts scenes from their painful past. In the piece de resistance, they plan to cover the room in meat and honey so Kyle will be mauled by a bear. Through this night of emotional trials and ridiculous theatrics, Nan and Kyle are both freed from their past in this smart, dark revenge comedy

A one-man, three-character play in which the same actor portrays Louis Armstrong, the greatest of all jazz trumpeters; Joe Glaser, his white manager; and Miles Davis, who admired Armstrong’s playing but disliked his onstage manner. It takes place in 1971 in a dressing room backstage at the Empire Room of New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, where Armstrong performed in public for the last time four months before his death. Reminiscing into a tape recorder about his life and work, Armstrong seeks to come to terms with his longstanding relationship with Glaser, whom he once loved like a father but now believes to have betrayed him. In alternating scenes, Glaser defends his controversial decision to promote Armstrong’s career (with the help of the Chicago mob) by encouraging him to simplify his musical style, while Davis attacks Armstrong for pandering to white audiences

Why our patrons love murphys creek theatre

Took my mother to see my friend Kirk Summers in Romeo and Juliet during opening weekend. It was the best production of the tragedy I’ve ever seen. The cast was amazing. The costumes and scenery were very professional. My mom and I laughed and I teared up a little. If you've never seen a play at this little theatre please make sure you see this play there you won’t regret it. If you’ve never seen Shakespeare, the cast makes it very easy to follow.

I am not a Shakespere fan but OMG my husband and I were blown away by this production. The acting was awesome and all the dialog was delivered so that you could understand everything that was going on. I had tears in my eyes at the end! Kudos to all involved from the lighting and sound to the set decoration to the expansion of the stage and most of all the actors. Truly a first rate production, run don't walk to MCT for a wonderful theater experience.
